Bipashu Basu is a Bengali actress born in New Delhi. She originally planned to pursue a career in medicine; however, due to her aversion to dissections, she took up chartered accountancy. Bipashu made a leap into the word of modeling when she won the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel contest in 1996. After winning the Godrej competition, Bipashu was flown to New York by Ford Models where she enjoyed a successful modeling career at the young age of 17.
